Thank you for scheduling your recent sod install with Lawn Service Fort Worth. We’ve completed your installation.
Here are some quick tips on how to water, so your new grass quickly establishes properly.
Everyone’s topsoil has a different saturation rate, so there is a possibility your newly installed sod may establish quicker/slower than the norm. Please keep in mind that these are general instructions(a good starting point), and that you will need to pay close attention to the adjustments you make.
Mowing Tips
–Wait 2-3 weeks before mowing new grass, or until it grows up to almost 4 inches high.
-Do not cut more than a 1/3 of the blade off each time.
-Weekly mowing is recommended(mow twice per week if needed).
-Try not to mow 1-2 days after each fertilization treatment.
-Sharpen blades for cleaner/healthier cut.
-Do not keep clumps of grass on the lawn. Use a rake or mow over them again. Use a bag if this becomes an issue.
-We recommend mowing with a bag if you have a Zoysia lawn.
-Mow in different directions throughout the season to keep ruts/grooves from forming.
General Watering Instructions for newly installed Sod
(Instructions below are for spray heads. Rotary sprinklers will take more time. Please adjust accordingly.)
-Soak grass in for 20-30 minutes the first day
-Continue watering daily 10-15 minutes during cool weather, and 15-20 during warmer weather.
-Water in the morning, after 6am, for 14 days straight. Evening watering could promote lawn diseases.
-Water every other day afterwards, for the same amount of time, for the next 3-4 weeks(Please skip watering if it has rained during that day.)
-Continue a normal watering schedule after the 6th week is complete(Some lawns become established sooner than others.)
-Please use good judgment to adjust your watering schedule accordingly. Do not over-water.
-Rotary sprinkler heads will need more time added to supply the same amount of water. Please adjust your time accordingly.
-Hand water areas that might not be getting good coverage by the sprinkler system(if applicable).
-Water before a freeze(if installed in Fall/Winter) to help insulate the roots.
-Enroll in our fertilization program for a faster establishment period and a 1 year warranty. Ask for details.

Please keep in mind that you are starting over with new turf. You will need a proper fertilization program to help with the establishment period. Excessive watering, which is needed, can cause weeds and other grasses to appear. A proper weed control program is recommended to help. Let us know if you are interested in this type of service.
